The second stage of the tender for the construction of a wind power plant in Karakalpakstan has been announced

The winner of the tender will have to finance the project, build and operate it, maintain it and leave the station at the end of the contract period or demolish it and restore the land to its original condition.

The request for proposals (RFP) stage of the tender for the selection of investors for the implementation of the 200 MW wind power generation and energy storage system project in Karakalpakstan has begun. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.

The winner of the tender will have to finance, design, build, operate, maintain the wind and accumulators, and at the end of the contract period, abandon or demolish the station and return the land to its original state.

The Shamol wind power plant is being built in the Beruni district of Karakalpakstan.

The first stage of the tender for the construction of this wind power plant, the qualification competition, began in April 2022.

In this stage of the tender, the companies that have passed the first stage will submit their technical, commercial and tariff proposals (the list of participants is in alphabetical order):

1. “Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar” (UAE)
2.”ACWA Power Company” (Saudi Arabia)
3. “Concord New Energy Group Limited” (Hong Kong)
4. “China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd.” (China) and a consortium of companies “Goldwind International Holdings” (HK) Limited (Hong Kong).

6. “Eksim Enerji Anonim Şirketi” (JSC Eksim Enerji) (Turkey)
7. “ReNew Vyan Shakti Private Limited” (India)
8. “Universal Energy Co. Ltd.” (China)

Contestants are requested to submit their proposals by July 29, 2023, 18:00 Tashkent time. But during the contest, according to the appeals of the participants, the deadline can be extended to everyone.

Earlier, “Spot” wrote about the signing of an agreement on the construction of a wind power plant with a total capacity of 1500 MW in Karakalpakstan.

This project worth $2.4 billion will be implemented by the Saudi Arabian “ACWA Power” company.

It is planned to produce 5.2 billion kWh of electricity per year through the project, and as a result, 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be saved per year.

300 MW/550 MWh electric storage chemical batteries will be installed at the station. These batteries rectify the variable electricity output from the wind turbines.
